Legal FEES

Historically I have represented many startup companies and individual inventors who are sensitive to the cost of legal services.  Therefore I strive to provide legal services as efficiently as possible, and to keep my overhead very low so that savings can be passed on to clients.  It is important, however, for the quality of the legal services remain very high so that clients can maximize the value of their business endeavors.  

For transactional intellectual property matters billed on an hourly basis, I charge $375/hour.

Many patent applications and some other matters can be handled on a flat fee basis.  Single invention patent applications typically run $3500 to $7500 in legal fees for preparation and filing, with software or complex cases often costing more.  Many other matters can be bid as a flat fee if the client requests.

All out-of-pocket costs such as government fees, travel, formal drawings, etc. are billed to clients in addition to any quoted legal fees.

Some clients are interested in securing a 50-75% reduction in legal fees in exchange for offering their intellectual property counsel equity in their company.  I am interested in considering such arrangements when there is a good fit between client and attorney.

No attorney-client relationship is created until we execute a written client retainer agreement.
